About

Hillary Holmes, Director of Liturgy

Hillary is the Director of Liturgy at St. Cecilia. Originally from Cedar Rapids, IA, she chose her adventure at Iowa State University, completing two bachelor’s degrees in Music and Agronomy. She continued to live in Ames, working in corn seed production and research and volunteering in parochial and archdiocesan music ministry. She also served as spiritual coordinator for the Catholic Ames Young Adult Community (CAYAC). In 2022 she earned a Master of Liturgy degree from the Liturgical Institute at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL. Hillary is excited to share her love of liturgy and sacred music because through worship we are tangibly reminded of who we are and Whose we are. We encounter the mystery of God’s love for us through the eternal realities of heaven made present here and now.

When not geeking out on things liturgical, Hillary enjoys playing recreational music on the marimba (not very portable) and violin (more portable). She also enjoys the thrill of the thrift store hunt, experimenting with a vintage pressure cooker, and cuddling up with YouTube, coffee, and merino wool socks.
