About

Alan Christy, Deacon

Mary and I were married in 1971 at Sacred Heart Church in St. Anthony, Ia. We have two sons, Adam and Michael. Adam lives in a Friendship Ark group home, although he is home with us every Saturday—Monday. Michael lives with his wife Kate in Conifer, Colorado. Michael is a construction manager for Burns and McDonald, and Kate is a patent agent for the United States Patent Service. Mary and I are both retired. Mary from the DOT, and I from HCS Builders.

I was Ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in 2009. Besides working in the parish, I have spent much of my time leading volunteers and other professionals to build homes for Habitat for Humanity, Friendship Ark Homes, Mainstream Living, Emergency Residence Project (now Bridge Home) and a number of wheelchair ramps and decks for those who need them. I also serve on the Permanent Diaconate Formation Board and Mary and I both serve on the Iowa Catholic Conference Board for the Archdiocese. I enjoy, bicycling, hiking, kayaking and downhill skiing.
