Saint Cecilia Parish has a vital Youth Ministry staffed by a full time Coordinator.  The purpose of the ministry is to foster personal and spiritual growth of teens and to enable them to participate in the life, mission, and work of the faith community.

Because youth is a time of unique personal development, Youth Ministry is concerned with the total person--relationship with God, relationships among youth, and among youth and the community, the recognition of individual talents, and discipleship.

The Youth Ministry includes the following eight components, each important to the concerns and interests of youth:

• Community.  Building community is the most essential component of Youth Ministry.  It can be applied to all the other components.  The  gathering of people helps all those involved to gain a deeper sense of Christian fellowship.
• Leadership Development.  Within any organization leadership is essential both as a catalyst in drawing others to share time and talents and also as a means of offering any gifts a young person may possess to lead by example.
• Catechesis.  Teaching addresses the need to focus on learning the truth about the Catholic faith, its doctrines and beliefs, in order to live out the faith.
• Prayer and Worship.  Knowledge of the faith is not sufficient for the spiritual growth of young people.  They need to incorporate prayer and workship in order to grow spiritually. 
  
• Advocacy.  Young adults have a right to speak out about matters that pertain to them.  The youth minister represents their voice at Parish Council and Youth Ministry Team meetings.
• Evangelization.  It is the obligation of all to share their beliefs with other teens, especially those who have not faith.
• Justice, Peace, and Service.  To live out the faith, all must serve others as Jesus did in His short time here on earth.  The need to put others first is a spiritually rewarding experience.  Often in their own comfort zones, young people forget the less fortunate.
• Pastoral Care.  Listening, advising, and spiritual direction are also important components of youth ministry..
